Hi,

My name is Rachelle and I am the founder of Cadence & Candour. I live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in Canada.

I have loved music for as long as I can remember. Alongside this interest, I have developed a growing desire to understand what makes people tick and what makes communities the way they are. I have spent a lot of my time trying to figure out how I can mesh these interests into a coherent whole.

Cadence & Candour is where I bring these worlds together… I see myself as a psychosocial musicologist. Yes, I know that’s a bit of a mouthful! What if I call myself a music facilitator, instead – a music facilitator of stories, to be specific?

I like to create opportunities for individuals and groups to experience music and express themselves through music in new ways. I am interested in music and lived experience: the stories behind the music, the purposes it serves, and the inspiration it brings. I love the stories that music elicits. I guess that’s why I enjoy songwriting, creating dynamic narratives through musicals, directing choirs, and teaching music to others.

But that’s not all!

I also enjoy discussing social issues, exploring identity, and using the creative arts for human and community development. This blog is birthed out of my interests and experiences. It is also an application of my academic work throughout undergraduate degrees in music and behavioural science, and graduate degrees in human development and social work.

Thank you for stopping by. Take your time, explore… I hope you enjoy the blog as much as I do!
