Todd Galberth has a few songs that I really connect with. “Lord, You are Good” is one of them. That song stands out to me because it is a reminder. It’s easy to focus on what’s not going well but sometimes you need a reminder that God’s actually been better than good. When you look back and think over your life, you realize you can’t praise or thank God enough for what He’s done – you actually owe Him your life

One day after hearing this song, I searched for more of Todd’s material and I found a live praise and worship musical presentation of his on YouTube. I remember listening to it while I was washing the dishes. It was more than just one song. He was speaking – linking together songs in front of a live audience. I can’t remember exactly which songs – they were songs I don’t think I had heard before. But the words he said hit me. He said something to the effect of “choose God now, commit yourself to God now”. It was nothing novel, but in the context of the music, those words had new life.
At that time, I was in a slump in my Christian journey. But those songs… his message… made me feel like I wanted to try again. I wanted to give God another try – wholeheartedly. And I decided in my heart that I would just do this properly.

It’s as if in the midst of music and the atmosphere created by those songs, my heart was more open and willing to receive the message being shared. I definitely think that the music – praise and worship, made his message more powerful.
This all happened while I was washing dishes. And as soon as the thought of committing to God came into my head, I dropped a glass on the counter. Not to be dramatic, but as soon as the sound went, the thought went. It’s as if that happened so that I wouldn’t give God another try.
I reflect on it now as a powerful moment.
